Welcome to a real  holiday!

Forget about flight delays, airstrikes, travel company collapse and traffic congestion. Staying in our 2 bed holiday cottage in Mid Wales, which sleeps 4, you will find that the only hold up on our quiet lanes is the odd herd of sheep being driven along the road.

We want to give you an honestly priced break- a cottage rent you can afford; no agency fees here- please see our pricing policy

Sit and do nothing. Put your feet up, you’re on holiday! We aim to provide a home from home. The chairs are comfy and you can just stare out at the stunning views and listen to the river below - with or without a glass of wine, it’s still relaxing!

Watch the wildlife. Too many birds to list! Foxes, hedgehogs, badgers and otters- they are all here. Our bird boxes and animal residences are generally busy! Watch the birds and otters from the comfort of the sun room.

Just enjoy being here! Most of all enjoy the valley and its community on this undisturbed part of the Welsh borders. This is still a quiet peaceful unspoilt place; tourists are far less common here but those who do come return again and again.

Play some old fashioned games. Quality family time without the electronics! Wildlife quizzes, puzzles, board games, cards or just read one of the many, many books on the shelves. The TV and video players do have an ‘off’ switch.

Get fit and slim. No need for a gym, just use the maps, guided walks and cycle routes to see the countryside up close. You won’t need the car; there are planned routes straight from the cottage. A perfect place for a walking holiday- we are close to Offa’s Dyke, Glyndwr’s way and the Kerry Ridgeway- or the perfect cycling holiday too!

Take the dog for a really long walk. We run a dog friendly cottage for all well behaved dogs.

Wait for it to rain - it does, sometimes - then go to the Elan Valley Nature reserve. Wales’ very own lake district; after rain, the water cascading over the dams is spectacular. Have lunch, and on the way back, indulge in a cream tea in one of Rhayader’s teashops.

See Red Kites being fed at Gigrin Farm. Up to 400 kites, as well as buzzards, arrive to be fed at 1400 GMT (that’s 3pm in summer) all year round.

Be Green. We have the GTBS Gold award for sustainable practices, but we like to think we can demonstrate that you can be green and still be warm and comfortable too. Have fun watching the energy monitor when you turn on the kettle! See how much electricity is made with the solar panels on the roof. The kids will love it!

Indulge yourself - fresh, honest, unadulterated food - with the Best Breakfast anywhere (we think) at DeGrey’s in Ludlow, or the best fish and chips in Wales at the seaside in Aberdovey. Go to one of our nearby pubs or tea shops for great food - it’s all locally sourced. Or if you prefer to cook at home, we are a really well equipped self catering cottage; we have fantastic local meat and organic veg. Enjoy real Welsh flavours and specialities and crafts from local shops, farms and other outlets.

Meet the alpacas as well as the Jacob sheep, hens and lambs on our smallholding. Be here for the shearing, or the birth of our lambs. We provide a very pet friendly holiday at our cottage and, as you will see our pets are pretty friendly too! Come and help at feeding time

Have a day out. We are well sited for day trips to North, Mid and South Wales; there are lots of border castles. There really is a lot to see and do here. Comprehensive information and a file full of suggestions is available.

Stay closer to home; visit Knighton, a charming old-fashioned town with its friendly atmosphere and distinctive selection of shops. Or visit other Powys towns of Newtown (with its gallery, theatre and museums) Ludlow or Welshpool.

Switch off your mobile. There’s no signal anyway, and do you really want that call from work? (There is a phone in the cottage but work doesn’t need to know the number!)

We have had visitors to our website since July 2008.
