Late Summer [ Winter ] [ Spring ] [ Early Summer ] [ School Holidays ] [ Late Summer ] [ Autumn ] This is a lovely time of the year because there is so much to see in the countryside. There is still a profusion of wild flowers although they are beginning to fade as hedgerow fruits begin to appear. The wild orchids are just about over and I am always sorry when they go. But its then time to go blackberrying and there are a few wild raspberries to be picked too.
The weather is a mixed feast and can be anything from hot sunshine to autumnal. It is good to walk, cycle or ride horses on the cooler days.
On warmer days a paddle in the river is refreshing or visit the beach at Aberdovey or Borth (50 miles) Come home via the mountain road it’s lonely and beautiful!
Trips further afield on warm days could include Clywedog reservoir (24miles) or Tal-y-Llyn with a visit to the craft centre at Upper Corris (48miles) or the Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth (35miles)
The nights are drawing in, so warm evenings looking at the stunning night sky from the balcony of Rose Cottage is a joy. There is no light pollution so shooting stars are readily spotted. The sunsets are pretty good too.
